Hike scenic trails with varying difficulty, offering stunning views of the town and mountains. Sisimiut has a rich history, with early cultures like the Saqqaq, Dorset, and Thule shaping the region. Today, most of the population descends from the Thule culture.

Arrive in Ilulissat, famously known as the ‘birthplace of icebergs’. Hike past husky sled dogs to the UNESCO-listed Icefjord, where you’ll be in awe of its vastness. Witness the remarkable Sermeq Kujalleq (Jakobshavn Glacier), the Northern Hemisphere’s most productive glacier, generating 20 million tonnes of ice daily that float into Ilulissat Icefjord and Disko Bay.

Devon Island (Tallurutit), Lancaster Sound

Devon Island, located deep in the High Arctic, is known as the “wildlife superhighway.” Here, nutrient-rich waters support abundant life, and stunning geological features, such as flat-topped mountains and glacial valleys, define the landscape. Explore Dundas Harbour for tundra walks, birdwatching, and historical remnants of an RCMP outpost. Walruses are often spotted in the bay. At the island's western end lies Beechey Island, a National Historic Site with ties to Franklin’s 1845 expedition. Nearby Radstock Bay offers the chance to explore a Thule village with well-preserved dwellings, whale skeletons, and artifacts from early explorers.

Our itinerary is flexible, depending on weather and sea ice conditions. We hope to visit: Prince Leopold Island (Appait) -  A bird sanctuary with 500,000 nesting birds, plus seals and polar bears. Port Leopold - A historic bay with Inuit sites and remnants of Franklin expedition history. Hazard Inlet (Qariaraajuk)- An Inuit hunting site with ancient whale remains and preserved sod houses.
