Day 4-5

At Sea

As you sail southeast toward South Georgia, you’ll cross the Antarctic Convergence, a vital biological boundary that marks your entry into Antarctic waters. This convergence, where cold Antarctic currents meet warmer ocean waters, creates a rich ecosystem that supports an abundance of krill, drawing in whales, seals, and diverse seabirds. Your Expedition Team will alert you when you cross this significant line, and they’ll also guide you in spotting the unique marine life that thrives in this nutrient-rich area.
Day 6-7

South Georgia

Discover the rugged beauty of South Georgia, a historic stop for Antarctic expeditions and once a center for whaling. While wildlife populations are rebounding, remnants of old whaling stations and abandoned sites offer a glimpse into the island's past. Visit Grytviken to see the grave of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, along with an old whaling station and a museum. Experience the island's incredible wildlife, often called the "Galapagos of the Southern Sea." Encounter massive colonies of king penguins and playful fur and elephant seals on various beaches. Your Expedition Team will highlight the vital relationships between the island's landscapes and its diverse wildlife, deepening your appreciation for this unique ecosystem.
Day 8-11
